Are you planning a trip to Mexico and thinking about staying a the brand new secrets moxcehé hotel in Playa del Carmen?

Secrets resorts are great if you want to completely unwind and not think about anything.

I recently stayed there and thought I would share my experience with you, so you will know what to expect when traveling there.

To start off it is a beautiful hotel, with lots to offer. I’m not a big fan of all-inclusive, but I was there for a wedding, so thought I would embrace the all-inclusive lifestyle and take full advantage of it.

Meaning always keeping a drink in my hand and eating as much as psychically possible.

I have to say, after a few days of not having to think about leaving the hotel room with money, ordering any drinks you want, and of course, taking full advantage of all the open bars.

I can see why people like to travel this way.

They are a way to completely unwind and not have a care in the world.

I have stayed at a few all-inclusive hotels, besides the secrets brand. And I must say, they know what they are doing. Secrets have blown the other resorts out of the water, with the service and quality they provide.

Especially compared to other lower-end all-inclusive hotels I have stayed at.

Escaping to an adult-only resort, where the drinks flow generously is just what I am looking for on vacation.

I give the Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen a 4.5/5 ⭐️ Rating

Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen Review

Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at Secrets Moxché Playa Del Carmen. The staff was very friendly and willing to help us with whatever we needed or requested.

There were always plenty of options to choose from as far as food goes, and plenty of it to be found any time of day.

You will not go hungry and your cup will never be empty. They do a good job at ensuring this.

The property itself was done fabulously and everything is brand new. Now the resort is about a year old, but they have done a good job at maintaining it and keeping it fresh and new.

It is large enough to get lost, but also not big enough to feel like it takes you ages just to get to where you want to go.

What I Liked About Secrets Moxché Playa Del Carmen

The Property

The property of the hotel is well thought out. They had several pools where you could relax, drink and party, and of course, partake in daily activities.

They even have a roof top pool, but you have to upgrade your package to the Preferred Club Junior Suit package to access this pool. It will also unlock more restaurants and bars that not everyone has access to.

Which I didn’t do, but had friends in the wedding party that did. For most of the part, everyone still ended up at the main pool.

If you don’t want to upgrade your package there are still plenty of smaller pools where you could escape and have all to yourself.

It was a great mix of a party hotel, but still able to find peace and quiet if that is what you want.

They also had cabanas right on the beach where you could spend your day at and have all your umbrellas and drinks brought to you.

What more could you ask for.

They had plenty of restaurants to choose from, I never felt like I was eating at the same place over and over again.

There was always a new and exciting food option to try. Even late at night when all the restaurants were closed, you could still order room service or hit up a late-night taco stand.

You could easily stay for a week and not be bored with the food. As there are plenty of options to choose from.

The Rooms at Secrets Playa Del Carmen

The rooms were so nice and thought out. All of them had bathtubs on the balconies or their own private pools.

There was a cubby for room service, so if you did not want to be disturbed, they could leave it in the box. It was also convenient to put all your dirty dishes into it without having them collect in your room or pile up in the hallways like most other hotels.

The shower was probably my favorite part of the room.

It had an amazing rain shower and even had a bench in the room, which is always good for us ladies when shaving our legs.

Of course, the showers were stocked with top-of-the-line shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.

The amenities in the rooms were also well thought out to include everything that you might have forgotten at home, including a steamer for your clothes.

On top of the rooms being well stocked, you had the option to have the rooms cleaned twice a day and could opt in or out for turn-down service.

The staff made sure to restock the mini fridge daily, and most of the time you could even catch someone in the hallway with basic drinks beers, and water.

I think they do this to reduce the number of times you call for delivery service to your room.

They were also fully stocked with state of the art Flat Screen TV’s with all the channels you could ask for.

But when you are paying what you are paying to stay here, the last thing you should be doing is staying in your room and watching the flat-screen tv.

The Service

For the most part, there was great service all over the whole property.

It was easy to get drinks at all the bars and the lines were never horribly long. All the staff were friendly and willing to go above and beyond to ensure you got what you were looking for.

Room service was easy to order at any hour of the day and the wait was never too long. Secrets made it easy, and you could order from either the phone or iPad if you didn’t feel like talking to anyone.

We did however struggle with trying to order a bottle of champagne for the room.

We called several times to have one brought to the room and it never came. Not sure why this was the case, but another couple in our party had the same issue.

Also, every floor is supposed to have a concierge, but ours was never there. Not sure if it was due to staffing issues or why, but for some reason they were never there.

This wasn’t a big deal, but when trying to order our champagne they kept referring us to the concierge.

The Quality of the Food

The food was great at secret moxché in playa del Carmen. I was very happy with everything we ate, and I’m a chef so I tend to be kind of picky.

There were plenty of options to choose from, they had 6 different formal restaurants to choose from, as well as small more casual eating establishments.

You could pick almost any cuisine that you wanted. They did a good job on ensuring you wouldn’t be bored and that you could find something you wanted.

The only negative that I would say about the food is that there wasn’t much Mexican influence.

It was almost like you weren’t even in Mexico at all.

They did have one Mexican restaurant called Dos Almas, but even it was more westernized.

The food was great, just wish it was more Mexican.

What Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen can Improve on

Overall, secrets was a great place to stay, relax and unwind. I was very happy with the property, the staff, the drinks, and even the food.

It was still a fairly new hotel when I went, so there are still a few things they need to work out, but most of the issues I noticed were probably due to staffing.

I do recommend if you are planning a trip to Playa del Carmen to stay a few nights outside the property.

Secrets hotels are great, but so is getting a more local experience.

Drink the local beer and eat at the local taco stand, this is half the fun of Mexico.

Where is an Alternative to stay other than Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen

As far as all-inclusive hotels go, secrets is top of the line, but you are also going to pay top dollar to stay there.

Also, if you are looking to bring your kids along, secrets hotels will not allow them. This is great for parents wanting to escape the kids, but if you can’t leave them at home you are going to need to find someplace else.

Here are some other suggestions on places to stay, if you are looking for an alternative to secrets.

Playacar The Palace

Grand Velas

They are great all-inclusive resorts in the Playa del Carmen area, I personally have not stayed at these resorts, but they came highly recommended by a friend.

That’s it. I hope you enjoyed this review on the Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen review.
